GENERALLY ALCOHOLIC DRINKS ARE DIVIDED INTO THREE GENERAL CLASSES:

EVERY COUNTRY AND EVERY NATION HAS ITS OWN TRADITION AND METHODS OF MAKING DISTILLED BEVERAGES AND, SIMILARLY, EVERY NATION NAMES THESE BEVERAGES IN ITS OWN WAY. FOR EXAMPLE IN ARMENIA - OGHI, IN CHINA - BAIJIU, IN RUSSIA - VODKA, IN MEXICO - TEQUILA, IN SCOTLAND - WHISKY, IN FRANCE - COGNAC, IN GERMANY - SCHNAPPS, IN CARIBBEAN ISLANDS - RHUM, IN GREECE - OUZO, IN UKRAINE - HORILKA, IN GEORGIA - CHACHA, ETC.

ARMENIANS USED TO MAKE OGHI STARTING THE DAYS OF URARTU KINGDOM (860 BC – 590 BC). ARCHEOLOGISTS PROVE THAT COMMON PEOPLE OF THE KINGDOM WERE NOT EVEN ALLOWED TO TASTE OGHI. THE DRINK WAS EXCLUSIVELY MADE FOR THE KINGS ONLY AND THE PEOPLE BELIEVED THAT ONLY KINGS COULD STAND THE STRONG ALCOHOL CONTAINED IN OGHI.
亚美尼亚的OGHI酿造史始于公元前860-590时期的乌拉尔图王国。据考古学家考证,当时的统治者甚至禁止普通平民品尝OGHIOGHI是国王的专属饮料。而且,当时的人民相信,只有国王才能承受OGHI猛烈的酒力。





HOWEVER, YEARS PASSED AND NOWADAYS ARMENIAN OGHI IS ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR ALCOHOL BEVERAGES IN ARMENIA. IT IS BEING SERVED AS A WELCOME DRINK TO HONORABLE GUESTS AND IS LARGELY CONSUMED IN THE COURSE OF FEASTS AND JOYFUL DINNERS WITH BEST FRIENDS.
